And even though I'm not capable of achieving as much as I was able to in previous days it certainly was good to be back! Choosing a warm, sunny and calm day does add to the enjoyment as does the prosperous conditions that our hives are currently enjoying. Add those fortuitous things together and......
By the end of my beekeeping day I'd managed to check all 5 hives at the Perkins Parade Apiary and also managed to put 3 very full supers of lovely Grey Ironbark (Eucalyptus Paniculata) which will provide the first succulent tastable reward for the honey season. Of course the couple of beestings may be a reward of sorts as I have read that bee venom is good for people with MS. Pity that they hurt a bit and that I lose of my valuable workers
I'm reminded of just how lucky I am to live where I do and to have the opportunity to still keep a few beehives. There is the frustration that comes when I'm "spent" after working through 5 hives on a perfect day but that is more than tempered by having the enjoyment that beekeeping gives me. Ohhh and when we extract the honey it will be sweeeet!!!!!!
Bye for now from me and our girls
