Travelling the 100 metres to these bees is much easier than a trip to Murringo (6 hours) or Coolamon and Temora (8 hours) or even "F "Ridge Road (30 minutes) which were normal trips to the bees. It had been a while since my last "solo" apiary trip and I have to admit that I was a little apprehensive about how I would go.
To make my beekeeping experience a little easier I have decided to work towards having all my equipment eight frame Ideal size. They are the thinner boxes you can see in the photos. According to my Grandad the bees like ideal frames and I'll happily go with his knowledge.
Luckily for me the time I spent there was successful and I was able to achieve the tasks that I set myself. I would have liked to have added "easily" but living with Multiple Sclerosis has added a little difficulty but it was nice to be able to say that I'm BAAAACK at the BEES!!! And my girls still like me, sort of! Bee stings are said by some to cure MS and I had a couple of injections, lol!!!
And it's always nice to see the Queen!
All that was needed to done was make the secret signs on the lids of the hives
then back inside for fresh Montague Roasters http://www.montaguecoffee.com.au/ coffee.
Life is good!
